Project Story
From Start to Finish
What We Found
Before the project, the backyard had a worn chain-link section on one side and a short, uneven wood divider near the rear patio that didn’t provide much privacy. A few posts were leaning, and the layout left open gaps where the yard felt exposed to neighboring homes. The homeowner wanted a cleaner, more finished boundary that would work better for everyday use and family time outside.
What Made It Tricky
The property had a slight slope toward the back corner, so the fence line needed careful grading to keep the panels level and the bottom edge consistent. There was also a narrow access path beside the house, which meant materials had to be moved in without disturbing the lawn or existing landscaping.
How We Built It
We set new pressure-treated posts in concrete, then built a straight, code-conscious layout that followed the grade without creating large visible gaps. The team installed 6-foot dog-ear pickets, a reinforced double gate for backyard access, and finished the wood in a cedar-tone stain for a clean, natural look. All hardware was galvanized to help the fence hold up through seasonal weather changes.
The Finished Deck
The finished fence gives the Wayne backyard a much more private and defined feel, with a consistent line from the house to the rear corner. The cedar-tone finish and matching gate make the space look coordinated instead of pieced together. It also adds a safer, more enclosed area for pets, kids, and outdoor gatherings.
How They Use It
The homeowner now uses the yard more comfortably for grilling, sitting outside, and letting the dog out without worrying about open sightlines. The new fence made the whole backyard feel more usable.
