Paramus Composite Deck Build with Clean Rail Details
Composite deck installation in Paramus, NJ by House of Decks LLC. Trex decking, white railings, and custom stairs for a low-maintenance backyard upgrade.
Project Story
From Start to Finish
What We Found
Before the project, the Paramus home had an aging wood deck that had started to fade, cup, and hold moisture near the back door. The boards showed uneven color from years of sun exposure, and a few spots near the stairs felt soft underfoot. The homeowners wanted a cleaner, safer outdoor space they wouldn’t have to stain and repair every season.
What Made It Tricky
The back entrance sat higher than the patio, so the new deck height and stair layout had to be measured carefully to keep the transition comfortable. The homeowners also wanted the deck footprint to stay compact enough for the yard while still leaving room for a grill and seating area.
How We Built It
We removed the old deck and built a new pressure-treated frame sized to match the rear entry and yard slope. Then we installed Trex composite decking in Pebble Gray with an Island Mist border, along with white vinyl railings and black balusters for a finished look. A wider landing and straight stair run helped make the space easier to move through and more comfortable for daily use.
The Finished Deck
The finished deck gives the home a much cleaner rear elevation and a more polished connection to the backyard. The composite surface stays consistent in color and feels solid underfoot, while the railing package keeps the look simple and tidy. It turned a weathered wood deck into a space that feels ready for regular family use.
How They Use It
The homeowners now use the deck for grilling, stepping out with coffee, and hosting a few chairs outside in the evenings. It’s become an easy part of the house to enjoy without worrying about upkeep.
