What We Found
Before the project, the Wayne deck showed clear signs of age around the back door and stair opening. A few boards had started to feel soft underfoot, one railing section had noticeable movement, and the stair treads were worn smooth in the center from regular use. The homeowner wanted the deck made safe again without replacing the entire structure.
What Made It Tricky
A remodel only works if the frame passes, and a raised deck like this one puts real load on its posts and beam, so the inspection underneath had to be thorough before anything was promised. The stair also ties into the main traffic path, so it had to be rebuilt in the same position.
How We Built It
With the posts, beam, and joists confirmed sound, we stripped the old boards and railing, corrected the joist spacing for the new boards, and resurfaced the deck in brown capped composite with hidden fasteners. The posts and beam were wrapped in white, a black aluminum railing replaced the wood rail, and the stair was rebuilt as a straight flight with composite treads and white-wrapped stringers.
The Finished Deck
The walking surface is solid again, the railing does not shift, and the stairs are firm and even. From the yard, the white posts and black rail make the deck look new, which is fair, since everything you can see or touch is.
How They Use It
The homeowner uses the deck for family time, cooking outside, and stepping in and out of the house without worrying about soft spots or a loose rail, and kept the frame they already paid for.

The Build Process
Inspection and Estimate
We inspected the Wayne deck, probed the posts, beam, and joists from below, and confirmed the frame was sound enough to carry a remodel.
Strip the Surface
The crew removed the old boards, the loose railing, and the worn stair so the frame could be corrected and reused.
Resurfacing and Wraps
We corrected the joist spacing, installed the brown capped composite with hidden fasteners, and wrapped the posts and beam in white.
Stairs, Railing, and Walkthrough
The new stair run and black aluminum railing were installed, then we cleaned up and walked the finished deck with the homeowner.
